Marel is helping fish processers comply with the new EU food label requirements coming into force this month with its new Innova Labelling software.

Under the new EU Regulation 1169/2011, to which all fish processers operating within the EU need to comply, labels accompanying all fishery and aquaculture products for EU consumers are affected.
The legislation includes changes to mandatory nutrition information on processed seafood, mandatory labelling of catch area or country of production, and allergens information requirements.
To help processors comply, Marel developed Innova Labelling to meet the industry’s need for control and automation of the labelling process from receiving to dispatch.
The software module’s visual label designer enables processors to create labels with texts, images, barcodes, and line graphics, using simple drag and drop options and real-time visualisation. Label contents are fully customisable, so it’s easy to comply with new customer, production, or legislative requirements.
