Landings of fresh fish accumulated to July increased 2.63% in the port of Vigo as compared with the same period last year. In total, 39,733 tons of fresh fishing were unloaded until July, with green cod and mollusks showing an increased respect last July.
Meanwhile, landings of crustaceans have decreased almost to a half and other diverse fish species show a small decrease in the figures.
Regarding to frozen fish, data show a sharp drop in landings for cod in cargo ships with a fall of 80.75% as compared with the same period last year. In general, all frozen fishing landed in the port of Vigo has fallen this year making negatives the figures for the total unloaded fishing. 323.908 tons of fishing were landed in Vigo until July, which means 3.75% less than the same period last year.
Last June, the total of fish landed reached 6,772.738,00 worth 11,505,838,34 Million Euros.
The Port is now the most important in the world in terms of distribution of landed fish for human consumption.
