Dates for 2010 and call for papers
Mercator Media, organisers of the third Offshore Mariculture Conference are pleased to announce that following two successful previous events - Malta 2006 and Alicante 2008 - the 2010 event will be held on the 19-21 May in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
Aimed at growing offshore fish farming businesses the conference will consist of two full days of technical papers exploring the progress and prospects for offshore aquaculture in European and international waters followed by a third day of fish farm visits.
The following topics will be covered:
- Law of the Sea and other international and national legislation affecting sea space for farms
- The business case including risk, profitability, financing, route to market and consumer demand
- Developing technical advances to enable all year farming in harsh sea conditions
- Cost-effective harvesting and stock processing technologies
- Transfer and adaptation of technologies from other offshore sectors
- Adequate onshore facilities for landings and hatcheries
- Sustainable feeding strategies
- Codes of practice for offshore fish farm locations and husbandry techniques
- The challenges of environmental and multi-use of waters
- Evolving technology for moorings, feeder systems, cages and netting
- Farm security, safety and data links
- European strategy for Aquaculture
- Successful case studies
Companies, organisations and individuals are invited to put forward papers to be delivered at the conference, within the framework of the topics shown above.
