This year’s Environmental Award of the Confederation of Icelandic Enterprises was presented to fishing company Brim by President of Iceland, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, and it was accepted by the company’s CEO Guðmundur Kristjánsson.

According to the judging panel, Brim has a firm grip on environmental issues.

“The company emphasises social responsibility and respect for the environment and has monitored and measured the wider impact of its operations,” the panel stated.

“Brim has set targets and developed reliable methods to measure results, reduce waste and increase value of all processes. The company has reduced significantly the omission of CO2, and has invested in new technology and fishing vessels with good returns.”
At the ceremony Guðmundur Kristjánsson commented that everyone at Brim appreciates the award and the recognition of the company’s environmental commitment.

“The Awards make us happy and proud. Respect for nature has been our guiding light and we see that efforts towards sustainability and improved environment are increasing return of our operations and bring benefits for the society at large. We at Brim will continue on this path. The Environmental Awards are encouragement to do even better,” he said.
