Bangladesh’s Western Fishers Shipyard Limited is to build another deep sea mid-water fishing vessel for Agro Food Services, a sister company of Sea Resources Group, local media reports.

It is understood that the vessel will be built at a cost of BDT 240m (US$3.1m) and will be delivered by mid 2015.
Western Fishers Shipyard has already built three similar vessels for Agro Food – FT Agro Food-1, FT Agro Food-3 and FT Agro Food-4 – which were designed by an Icelandic designer and delivered in June 2013.
Apparently, the new vessel will measure 41m and will be built according to the same design of the previous vessels to cope with the rough weather conditions and sea of the Bay of Bengal where it will operate.
It is thought the new vessel will also be built with the same features. All vessels are equipped with anti roll-tank, kaplan propeller, kort nozzle, bulbous bow, powerful engine and bollard pull.
Each trawler has a carrying capacity of 300 tonnes of fish and is powered with a 1850 BHP engine, 800KW generator power and have a pulling capacity of 26 tonnes.
The company is also said to be building nine more fishing vessels worth a total of BDT 3bn (US$38.8m), which are expected to be delivered by mid 2014.
