Anglesey Aquaculture Ltd, the only producer of sea bass in the UK, has hailed its first appearance at the International Boston Seafood Show (IBSS) as a phenomenal success.
Produced exclusively at Anglesey Aquaculture’s state-of-the-art recirculation fish farm in Anglesey, North Wales, the branded ‘Anglesey Sea Bass’ has become a highly sought after product in European restaurant, catering and retail trades. However, the fish has also generated so much interest from outside the European Union that the company decided it should this year make its IBSS debut.
Kenny Woods of Anglesey Aquaculture said: “It was an easy decision to make. The Boston show is the largest and most important seafood event in North America and it proved the ideal platform to showcase our sea bass and our company. It was also a great opportunity for us to see what products are out there and how the industry is innovating.
“Mediterranean sea bass is becoming more and more popular in North America and we were overwhelmed by the number of buyers who expressed a keen interest in our product. They all wanted to hear our story: about our highly sophisticated production techniques, our sustainability drives, and our environmental commitments. They were also fascinated by our unique location in North Wales. I believe we made a lot of important new friends.”
