The awards categories fall into two sections: Icelandic companies and non-Icelandic companies and nominations are now being encouraged from the sector to celebrate outstanding achievements and new products.

The Awards Ceremony will be held at the beautiful Gerðarsafn Art Gallery on 22 September 2011 and winners of the thirteen categories will be presented with their trophies during the Exhibition’s Opening Night Reception. The Reception will, for the third time, be jointly hosted by the Icelandic Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture and City of Kópavogur. The Icelandic Awards scheme was first introduced in 1999 and the stature of this event has grown over the years - winning an award is now seen as an accolade which assists in the promotion of companies and products.

Previous winner at the Awards, Haraldur Árnason, Sales and Marketing Director, Hampidjan Iceland, commented: “At the last IFE in 2008, Hampidjan was the winner of the award “the Overall Outstanding Supplier to the Icelandic and International Fishing Industry” for that we are grateful and it gives us the incentive to do even better work in the future. We are looking forward to the next exhibition and to meeting all our customers old and new, see you all there."

Marianne Rasmussen-Coulling, Head of Events at Mercator Media, added: “The 2011 Awards will follow the same format as 2008 with a short and sleek ceremony. This combined with the Gerðarsafn Art Gallery being conveniently located close to the Exhibition, will make the whole evening an accessible and convenient way to network with key Icelandic and international personnel from the fishing industry.”
