The Turkish based company is expecting the first vessel is to be delivered in early 2015 followed by the second ship in the autumn of the same year. The first new-build is expected to replace a pair of 53-year old vessels, Víkingur and Lundey.
The vessels will measure 80 metres overall with a 17 metre beam. Each is expected to be fitted with a high-capacity double 1,300,000kCal/hour refrigeration system and each will have twelve RSW tanks with a 2900 cubic metre carrying capacity. The main engines will be 4600kW units.
The new-builds are designed for better catch handling, for example with the capacity to pump from a trawl's codend at the stern.
