With many exhibitors securing large orders at the last event held in 2011, and with attendance up on the previous event by 9% to 13,547, it's little wonder that with a full year to go, the 2014 Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition is already 60% sold.

The Icelandic fisheries sector has been one of the mainstays of the Icelandic economy for as long as anyone can remember, both as a source of food for the nation as well as representing a significant proportion of Iceland's export income. The sector has also played an important role in Iceland's culture and heritage. Approximately 9,000 people are directly employed by the fisheries industry, or approximately 5.3% of Iceland's workforce, and the sector accounted for approximately 42.5% of the total export of goods in 2012.

Next year's exhibition, the 11th in the series, will be held from 25-27 September 2014 at Smárinn, Kópavogur, Iceland and, as always, will be much more than just an exhibition, with plans for a conference, the 6th Icelandic Fisheries Awards and inward delegations all well underway.

The exhibition will again cover every aspect of the commercial fishing industry from catching and locating to processing and packaging, right through to marketing and distribution of the final product.
