HB Grandi has reported that last year its fleet landed 152,500 tonnes of fish with a value of approximately ISK15.20 billion - a reduction compared to the previous year.

In 2013 the company fleet landed 188,200 tonnes, worth ISK16.80 billion.
The company says that the reason for the smaller 2014 catch volume is down to reductions in quotas for the main pelagic species. Last year’s capelin season was similar to the previous season, while allocations for Atlanto-Scandian herring were reduced significantly last year in comparison to the previous year.
The trawler fleet has seen changes with the number of freezer vessels reduced by two. Venus HF was sold to new owners overseas while Helga María AK was converted into a fresher trawler. The freezer fleet’s catches and catch values fell, while these increased for the fresher trawlers.
