A technology new to the seafood industry has been developed by Afoheat to give fish products a more appetising look.

The technology was developed five years ago and was first introduced in the meat business to colour convenience meat products. As the convenience food business is now booming the new infra-red technology has also been introduced to the fish processing industry.

The Afogrill and Afomarker are newly developed machines which are able to roast, grill or grill-mark different food products such as fresh or frozen fish in a very short time.

The new technology uses tailor-made, gas-powered infra-red burners. Using the Afoheat grill and marker equals high yields due to the short grilling time and also results in very low energy consumption.

Some products can be naturally coloured or grilled in 15 or 20 seconds and the instant heat technology can even be used to open mussels or similar products without burning them.
