Ever since Vónin introduced the Vónin 2007 shrimp trawl it has been a huge success.
Features such as significant fuel savings, increased catch, minimum wear and tear, stability on rough grounds and in strong currents, good water flow, and reduced bycatch means that the majority of the North Atlantic Shrimp fleet are now using them.
The feedback from some of the vessels using the trawl speaks for itself:
Akamalik: "The trawl has extremely good bottom contact and is very stable on rough grounds. The wear and tear is almost none compared to other trawls."
Markus: "We have a 3220 mesh Vónin 2007 which is the same size as our previous trawls, but we can see significant fuel savings using this new trawl design."
Arctic Viking: "The trawl has a very good water flow and the water pressure is much less within the trawl, which makes it very easy and flexible to operate where the ocean current is strong."
Ocean Champion: "We have just made a very good trip. We fished for two days and discharged 70,000lbs of shrimp. We had a 1250 mesh trawl from another supplier before this one. This one is much lighter and easier to work with. When we were shooting the trawl the first time, we heard that the other vessels were leaving the area because of too much capelin in their trawls. We didn't get one capelin! Only that means a lot to us. With our previous trawl we were unable to tow against the current, but with this one we don't have any problems doing that. We have a 1570 mesh Vónin 2007 shrimp trawl and 3.5m2 Injector SeaWolf trawl doors and I am very happy with this gear!"
