Following recent research suggesting that stocks of the high value sea cucumber, Black Teatfish, have recovered to a point where it can now be sustainably fished under strict managed conditions, the fishery will open for a one month trial later this year.

Consultation with other interested stakeholders is ongoing, and all views will be presented to the Torres Strait Hand Collectables Working Group in early July.
