The Turkish shipyard is building the two freezer trawlers for Norwegian company Strand Havfiske.

The Skipsteknisk-designed vessels will have a length of 69.9m, a breadth of 15.4m and a freezer cargo hold of approximately 1,400m3.

They will also have a complete factory deck equipped with fish processing and freezing equipment, one main engine of 4500kW power equipped NOx reduction system for the exhaust gas and propulsion supplied from Wartsila, hydraulic operated fishing winches supplied from Rolls Royce, a fishmeal plant, sonar/fish finding echo sounders, and a high standard accommodation area for 29 persons.

The vessel will be build under the supervision of DNV and NMD, with ice class notation as well. The first of the two vessels is due to be delivered in October 2012 and the second in January 2013

“We believe that these contracts are and will be a win win situation for both parties, where everything will be handled in a smooth manner and absolute cooperation. We will also benefit from the owners and designers previous fishing experiences in order to deliver a high quality, tailor made ship as per owner demands,” Tersan Shipyard Project Manager, Sakir Erdogan told World Fishing & Aquaculture.
