Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment (MAPAMA), will participate for the twenty-first time at Seafood Expo Global in Brussels 25th to the 27th of April.
The MAPAMA pavilion, located in Hall 7, will have an area of 224 square metres, and the National Association of manufacturers of canned fish and seafood (ANFACO-CECOPESCA), the Spanish Association of wholesalers, importers, transformers and exporters of products of fishing and aquaculture (CONXEMAR) and the Business Association of producers of marine cultures of Spain (APROMAR) will be present there.
These associations will be accompanied by several companies within different subsectors focused on fresh, frozen, canned, and marine and continental aquaculture fishery products. In Hall 7,the autonomous communities of Andalusia, Canary Islands, Catalonia, Galicia, Basque country and Principality of Asturias will also participate.
In the institutional area of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment stand, a variety of information sources related to fisheries and aquaculture and the international presentation of fishery products will be shown, all under the ‘Discover our Fisheries, Competitive and Sustainable’ slogan.
The Atún de Pesca Responsable (Responsible tuna fishing) brand will be prominently displayed on the stand. The sector of the Spanish tuna represented by OPAGAC (Associated Producers of Large Tuna Freezers) has promoted the publication of the first AENOR standard (Spain's Standardisation and Certification Association) for the creation of a Spanish standard of requirements that member vessels must comply with to establish their catches as meeting the Atún de Pesca Responsable (APR) requirements.
Alongside the fair, MAPAMA also organises a schedule of business meetings open to all participating Spanish companies, with listings of potential business partners, tailored to the needs of each one of them with a selection of contacts of interest.
Meetings with the delegations of other countries will be maintained in order to promote the expansion of exports of Spanish seafood products, which will be attended by the Secretary General of fishing, Alberto Lopez-Asenjo García, Director-General for Fisheries Resources and Aquaculture, José Miguel Corvinos Lafuente, and the Director-General of Fishing Management, José Luis González Serrano.
The presence of Spain in Seafood Global is funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment (MAPAMA) and by the European Union, through the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF).
