US seafood importer Southstream Seafoods has entered into an exclusive partnership with Sea Harvest, becoming the sole representative of Sea Harvest products in the United States. The agreement establishes a new, direct US gateway for South African Cape Hake.

The partnership covers all Sea Harvest product lines, with an immediate commercial focus on deep-skinned, frozen-at-sea Cape Hake fillets. Processed and frozen at sea to lock in quality and yield, these fillets are prized for their clean flavour, excellent yield, and consistent performance in high-volume foodservice environments.
“This is not a brand collaboration — it’s a supply-chain advantage for US buyers,” said Mark Soderstrom, President of Southstream Seafoods. “Sea Harvest is one of the most respected names in South African hake, and this exclusive partnership strengthens what we do best — delivering consistent, high-quality whitefish that performs under real kitchen pressure. This isn’t just about adding another supplier; it’s about giving our customers a reliable, long-term solution they can build menus around.”
The partnership builds on Southstream’s long-standing presence in South African hake. Southstream continues to maintain its more than 15-year relationship with I&J, allowing customers to access multiple trusted South African hake programs through a single, experienced US partner.
Sea Harvest’s Cape Hake is sustainably harvested off the coast of South Africa and frozen at sea within hours of catch, helping preserve texture, flavour, and uniformity from harvest through service.
The exclusive US arrangement provides customers with a single, accountable point of access for sourcing, logistics, and long-term programme planning.
“Partnering exclusively with SouthStream gives us access to a team that truly understands the nuances of whitefish and the unique demands of foodservice,” said Konrad Geldenhuys,Chief Operating Officer, Sea Harvest. “Their expertise in whitefish and their deep understanding of the foodservice market makes SouthStream the ideal partner to represent Sea Harvest’s Cape Hake in the US market.”
