Seafish has announced the publication of new research into the supply of Icelandic cod and haddock to the UK.

This Outlook was created following a request from the Humber Seafood Institute for Seafish to examine Icelandic cod and haddock supplies to the UK in the light of ongoing economic challenges.

The report is based on an analysis of trade data, business trends and the views of many stakeholders in the UK and Iceland. Research was conducted by Seafish in collaboration with Matis and the Grimsby Institute.

Angus Garrett of Seafish, who led the work, said: “The UK is dependent on international sources of seafood supply, so this paper is relevant for UK processors as it examines the implication of recent events and explores possible future challenges for the sector. The paper was used as the basis for a very successful industry workshop to help inform forward actions.”

Seafish has published several strategic outlooks which focus on medium to long term issues facing seafood processors.
