Scanvaegt brings Scandinavian fashion to batching
Scanvaegt says it invented the multi-channel grader in 1978 and after selling ScanGraders and ScanBatchers to more than 2,000 plants worldwide it has now made a quantum leap with its ScanGrader/ScanBatcher 4700 with a user-friendly, eye-catching Scandinavian design.
It says it can do virtually any grading or batching job and some different jobs simultaneously with more accuracy for a multi-product, user-defined mix of different items to fixed weights and counts.
This is in response to a retailer and consumer demand for fixed weight packs and trays containing fresh food. Overweight has become a crucial issue for food packers, hence the aim to get high accuracy, dramatically to reduce giveaway. It says the 4700 reduces giveaway to almost zero. This is achieved with its patented CamelBack technology, the associated SuperBatching software package and a powerful new computer system that has a batch calculation capacity 100 times that of the previous best.
It is built solely of stainless steel and other non-corroding, food industry-approved materials. The hermetically sealed, high-precision load cell is enveloped by an open-force converter — all made of stainless steel. This protects the load cell from overload, shock load and other potentially damaging forces.
There is an uninterrupted power battery system to cope with a short-duration power cut to protect all data and ensure production can continue with no need to reset the system when power comes back.
The machines are very open to help ensure easy, efficient hose-down cleaning and inspection throughout. There are no crevices or corners where residue can stick and the oblique surfaces let water and waste run off.
Easy to monitor
The new ScanBatcher 4700 has an improved colour screen with a user-friendly layout. The graphical user interface makes it easy to monitor production online as well as obtain any desired statistical information at job level and the hierarchical user access function makes it possible to restrict access to machine settings to authorised staff.
The 4700s can be remotely monitored and controlled using via the ScanControl’ dedicated data handling module and this ensures connectivity to virtually any related data system. They have plastic (Intralox) or PVC belting, depending upon customer preference and application, automatic belt alignment, adjustable belt speed which can be also be programmed in. Also, the separator reject arms are easy to adjust vertically to suit the particular size and characteristics of the items to be handled.
