Seigla displayed the wheelhouse of newbuild ‘”Saga K” at the Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition.
The vessel is a longliner for Eskøy AS, Norway, and was due to be delivered at the end of October this year.
The vessel is Seigla’s new design, the Seigur 1500XW. The length is 14.99m, the largest under-15m vessel in Norway. It will also be 5.7m wide and the fish hold will be 54m3.
Saga K will be equipped with 30,000 hooks from Mustad and a washing system from 3X Technology.
Every detail of the vessel (except inside) is vacuum infused. Seigla says that advantages of a Vacuum Infused Sandwich vessel over a single skin hand lay-up are that the vessel is stronger, lighter, more stable and safer, among others.
At the Exhibition, the company told World Fishing that it sold three boats to Icelandic fishermen during the show.
The vessels sold are all S-Serie Seigur boats, equipped for jigging. They will all be vacuum infused, but will not feature Sigla’s drop keel.
