Safety equipment supplier Wescom Group has launched its new sMRT V300 Class M Man Overboard device, a compact unit that combines AIS, DSC, 121.5MHz and GNSS technology.

According to Wescom, sMRT V300 is one of the first products on the market designed to be compliant with the new Europe-wide Class M standard for AIS devices – meaning it has GNSS and internal DSC receivers that allow two-way communication with the device.

A key feature of the V300 is its water-activation, which ensures the unit automatically sends a DSC distress alert and AIS location upon immersion in water. It has been designed to be easily integrated onto multiple styles of lifejackets using a variety of mounting options. T

The sMRT range also works seamlessly with the sMRT SARfinder, digital 121.5 MOB alarm, offering a complete man overboard alert and tracking solution for localised rescue when combined with the vessels AIS plotter.

Compatible with the sMRT Beacon Management mobile app, users can conduct product health checks, view the power reserves in the five-year battery and maintain test records from a digital dashboard.
