Drone specialist Probiotic has brought on board an expert in artificial intelligence to strengthen its team.

Probiotic, part of the NORMS Group, develops autonomous underwater drones for the aquaculture industry using artificial intelligence for inspecting and continuous cleaning of fish pen nets.
The company has recently appointed Lasse Falch Sortland as a software engineer at Probiotic’s Trondheim department in Norway. Currently living in Cambridge, UK, Lasse holds a Master’s in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Essex and has a wealth of experience with autonomous vehicles, from data collection through to deployment.
Chief executive Mikkel Pedersen said that Lasse brings essential expertise to Probiotic’s software department. “We will continue to build our expertise in artificial intelligence and machine vision,” he said.
“There were many qualified applicants with a broad international background. We are super excited that Lasse is now part of our team at Probotic and shares our vision for making tech for a cleaner future,” he added.
Probotic is currently in the testing phase of its latest development, ensuring its algorithms are finely tuned. “We can reveal that we successfully tested the latest prototype down to a depth of 500 metres,” said Mikkel Pedersen.
“Tests like this are done to approve the drone platform's properties and, in this case, the robustness to pressure,” he added.
