PERUZA''s nobbing line for small fish has gone through industrial testing in the Baltic and Adriatic Seas.

The company says that the results of tests in the Baltic region were so impressive that the line was purchased and installed in the Kaliningrad region of Russia by one of the major players in the Russian canning industry.

The nobbing line has proved stable performance, reaching on average 600-700 fish per minute. There were also occasions when up to 900 fish per minutes was achieved. The most appropriate fish size is normally assumed to be 7-12cm, up to 17cm long.

Tests have also revealed significant differences in the behaviour of different species of fish. While, for example, capelin, Baltic herring, sprat, pilchard and anchovy showed the best performance, Adriatic sardine had special attributes that should be addressed in the next development stages. It proved the old truth that fish processing lines often cannot be universally built, but require customised design and production.

The nobbing line has been designed for two types of customers – the canning industry and the pre-processing industry.
