Optimar Iceland has been developing a new storage tank, says Reynir Guðjónsson, sales and marketing manager.

Due to the rise in steel prices, the company decided to look for an alternative material and decided on plastic.

And despite the fact that the plastic is made of oil and oil prices are also going up, Mr Guðjónsson says that the new storage tank is still a better product and better value than the steel tanks.

The new tank is able to determine the thickness of the ice - a new feature that no other company has, says Mr Guðjónsson.

The tank is available in four sizes - 1,000l, 2,000l, 3,000l and 4,000l and is dual shell manufactured from plastic with air insulation.

The tank is designed to maintain a homogenous ice mixture, achieved by continually stirring the mixture. The use of storage tanks makes it possible to deliver large quantities of Optim-Ice® (Optimar's liquid ice) when needed and in a short period of time.

Each tank is fitted with a pump capable of delivering up to 4,000l of liquid ice per hour.

Each tank is fitted with a sensor that senses the quantity of liquid ice in the tank. The sensing mechanism automatically starts and stops the liquid ice system according to customer requirements.

This newly developed tank has been delivered to companies in the Westmann Island and the Faroe Islands.

Mr Guðjónsson is looking forward to the exhibition: "We have had the same stand for many years," he said. "The last show was very good for us - new contracts were signed and paid for at the exhibition."
