Gutmaster X, Kroma A/S’s long-awaited equipment for processing farmed Atlantic salmon and trout has been launched by the Danish-headquartered company following extensive trials and will be on show at Icefish in June.

According to Kroma CEO, Ivan Kristensen, the company “revolutionised” the Gutmaster X design to ensure that it can perform multiple tasks “impeccably” and requiring no more than the press of a button on the machine’s display unit.

First and foremost, Gutmaster X detects individual fish sizes the moment that they arrive at the machine. It then conducts all of its cuts accordingly. A specially-designed fish cutting technique ensures the fish are portioned while leaving the heads and tails untouched. Afterwards, a gentle suction unit removes the waste and blood from the fish.

Kroma’s suction function also conducts a double-cleaning of the fish, which is intended to ensure superior product quality.

“Gutmaster X is the only gutting machine with an integrated water hose attached to the suction unit, that removes both guts and the whole bloodline from the fish within a second of work, providing excellent result,” Kristensen said.

With Kroma’s strong focus on hygiene, Gutmaster X has been designed in such a way that all the inside components can be easily washed from all the angles or demounted with a quick-release system for disinfection purposes. Some of the tools can be even washed in a dishwasher.

Moreover, Gutmaster X can be upgraded with multiple accessories. These optional additions include Visiomaster, which inspects each processed fish and determines whether it requires manual inspection or can further continue to the next step of the processing line.

Other options, such as CIP and cleaning mode systems make sure that a Gutmaster X machine can be cleaned several times in between the gutting process.

However, Kroma believes the most exciting accessory is the Remote Access Supervision, which gives one of its service technicians direct access to the gutting machine – no matter where in the world that machine is stationed. The only condition required is the availability of the internet connection.

Through this innovation, Kroma is able check and control all electrical functions of the gutting machine at a customer’s fish processing site.
