This includes a packed IceFish connect conference programme, including sessions from Fish Waste for Profit, and opportunities to set up meetings and watch demonstrations take place in real time.
“This is the first time we have run this virtual event for IceFish, and we will be running it in future alongside in-person events, starting with the 2022 Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition,” said Mercator Media events director Marianne Rasmussen-Coulling.
“A great deal of effort has gone into bringing together the right content to ensure that IceFish Connect attracts both the right speakers and a genuinely engaged audience.”
All visitors to IceFish Connect are registered and a smart AI-based system analyses profiles to matches them against the service and equipment providers that have offerings to suit their requirements, ensuring that visitors to the virtual event make the most of the opportunities that IceFish Connect has to offer.
“It’s not the same as an event where people can meet face-to-face, but the principles are the same as those behind any business event. While random engagement around the halls isn’t part of the mix, IceFish Connect takes a different approach and matches people via shared interest choices registered on the platform. This helps to meet in a more structured manner to bring together people whose requirements dovetail neatly,” she said.
“So you can meet, network and discuss key requirements for you and your business, just as you would at an in-person event.”
Visitors will be provided with the full Icefish Connect online conference schedule, featuring expert speakers and panellists for each dedicated session. This is in addition to the main Icefish Connect programme of launches, events and demonstrations.
“This is the second year that Covid restrictions have prevented people from meeting in person, although the fishing, aquaculture and seafood industries are hugely resourceful, and these business sectors have been quick to adapt to a new working environment. IceFish Connect is our contribution to keeping the commercial fishing, processing and seafood industry as a whole connected and up-to-date – and we’ll be back with both another IceFish Connect and the long-overdue in-person Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition in 2022,” Marianne Rasmussen-Coulling said.
