"This is our fifth time as Grimsby Fish Market. Before that we attended with the local council and in a partnership with Hull. So we're longstanding participants," said Grimsby Fish Market's chief executive Martyn Boyers.

"We've been at IceFish every time since the 90s – in different guises – and we see it as an opportunity to meet people and develop contacts in Iceland," he said, adding that this is the only fishing industry exhibition they now take part in.

This year Grimsby Fish Market is participating in IceFish with the North-East Lincolnshire Council, which supports the market and its longstanding relationship with Icelandic suppliers, providing a key gateway for fresh fish from Iceland to the UK market.

"We handle 15,000 tonnes of fish a year and 77% of that comes from Iceland – so that's more than 10,000 tonnes of fish from Iceland that goes through the auction," Martyn Boyers said.

"The last exhibition was very good, as this one will be. They are only every three years so there is always time to catch up and to see something new as well as renew acquaintances and meet new people, so the event remains relevant and fresh. Grimsby Fish Market also uses Marel fish handling systems, and this also gives us an opportunity to catch up with them and see the latest innovations."
