A new Chair, Charles Howeson, and two new members, Iain MacSween and Michael Park have been appointed to the board of the Sea Fish Industry Authority (Seafish).
Charles Howeson has more than 10 years' experience in the private, public and voluntary sectors. He is a member of the National Consumer Council for Water and chairman of its Western Regional organisation. He chairs five other boards covering a range of areas of specialist expertise and is a director of First Great Western Trains and the Duchy of Somerset's Estates.
Iain MacSween has been the chief executive of the Scottish Fishermen's Organisation for 27 years. He is chairman of Seafood Scotland and the Scottish Association of Fish Producers' Organisations. He is president of the Pelagic Advisory Council.
Michael Park has more than 30 years experience in the Scottish fishing industry. He is chairman of the Scottish White Fish Producers Association and currently serves as director of six companies including Denebula Ltd, Scottish Fishermen's Federation Services, the Fishermen's Trust and Seafood Scotland.
All appointments are for three years, with effect from 1 July 2007. Remuneration for the Chair is £49,364 a year for three days a week. Remuneration for Board members is £9,122 a year, and there are currently 10 board meetings a year.
