Processing systems manufacturer Carnitech showed two new machines at Seafood Processing Europe in Brussels in April.

Improved Roller Grader CT1018
Carnitech’s roller grader type CT1018 has been further developed to meet improved productivity and reduced manual handling demands in today’s shrimp production industry.

The roller grader is designed for thickness grading and operates according to the ‘roller principle’. It is applicable for onshore plants.

It renders gentle and accurate thickness grading and has proved particularly practical in the grading of warm water shrimps. Via a feeding chute or a vibrator, the shrimps are led evenly between the individually adjustable rollers. It grades in five sizes, leading the small shrimp out first while the largest ones continue to the end of the rollers. The roller grader is equipped with a quick adjustment system for easy change to other shrimp sizes.

Some of the main improvements with the new roller grader are:

  • The infeed of the grader has been improved, ensuring a more uniform feeding to each lane on the grader
  • The entire grader has been lifted to make room for reversible horizontal take away conveyors underneath
  • The steel construction has been redesigned making cleaning easier
  • Simplified system for adjustment of grades

New SMARTloader
With the newly developed SMARTloader with weighing feature, Carnitech says that the user gets an all-in-one solution - it eliminates the need for extra scales, it saves two working procedures and ensures more accurate weighing out from the loader as it registers the actual amount emptied from the loader.

The new SMARTloader with weighing feature is designed for lifting and discharging of 210/300 l trolleys to various levels where high accuracy is needed.

The machine lifts the filled trolley from the ground and stops while weighing the trolley, including content. Then it proceeds and discharges the content and returns to the weighing position where the empty trolley, including possible remnants, is weighed once again. The display shows the actual weight of the products discharged from the trolleys as the system measures both before and after weight. The batch weights can be added up and gathered in the CARNIflex software system. It registers up to 1,000 weighings.

It is said to weigh up to 350kg with 0.5kg accuracy, although in some cases the accuracy can be as low as 200g.
