Kiln specialist AFOS has developed a new solution in response to increased demand in the ready-to-eat market for hot smoked salmon, trout and mackerel.

The company has developed new software for the Siemens S7-1200 platform specifically for hot smoking which is available on its range of kilns from the AK1-250 upwards.
The kilns have been developed to meet UK and USA requirements for pasteurisation levels.
Additional features include HMI touchscreen storing multiple recipes and individual trolley control on reaching temperature set parameters and pasteurisation times.
Multiple probes per trolley, electronic humidity and temperature control and inverter controlled motors provide for greater flexibility control and traceability.
AFOS has already won significant orders for its hot smoking offer in the USA with a major retailer and a large west coast smokehouse, plus orders from Spain, N. Ireland and the UK. A significant number of orders are also in the pipeline.
AFOS managing director Mike Sutton said: "The major growth area this year is in hot smoked products and we have introduced a comprehensive package of measures which will enable our customers to meet this demand.
"AFOS kilns are delivering a significant advantage to those companies operating in the hot smoking sector combining the traditional benefits of our unique horizontal reversing airflow system with the latest in hot smoking technology."
