Shan Yathunanthan has joined conformity assessment body ME Certification Ltd (MEC) as director of certification in a move to help spearhead business expansion.
He was most recently Head of Department with Intertek and brings with him more than 10 years’ experience within the certification sector, working on projects in Europe, Asia, the Far East, Middle East, North Africa and the Americas. His experience includes business development, resource and project management, as well as training provision.
MEC was launched earlier this year by MacAlister Elliott & Partners Ltd as a new standalone conformity assessment body to accommodate the growing demand for fisheries and aquaculture certification services.
Shan Yathunanthan said, “I am delighted to be joining MEC at a time when the certification services sector is showing strong growth. In the immediate future, we plan to reinforce our Fishery and Chain of Custody Certification in other parts of Europe after seeing strong growth in the UK in recent years. Our longer term strategy is to offer certification in other service areas as well as build a global network to increase our market presence.”
