Icelandic salmon farming company Arnarlax has signed a share purchase agreement for the remaining 50% of shares in Eldisstöðin Ísþór smolt facility in Þorlákshöfn.
The transaction is subject to approval from Icelandic Competition Authorities (ICA). If approved, Arnarlax will be the sole owner of Eldisstöðin Ísþór hf.
“With this, Arnarlax takes another important step in the strategy of increased smolt weight, allowing increased MAB (maximum allowed biomass) license utilisation while reducing production time in sea and thereby biological risk,” the company said.
Arnarlax also recently signed a declaration of intent with officials from the Vesturbyggð municipality to build a high-tech processing facility with an estimated capacity of 80,000 tonnes in Patreksfjörður.
Arnarlax currently holds licenses amounting to 25,200 tonnes MAB.
