New PowerTechTM 9.0L and 13.5L Tier 3 propulsion and generator-drive engines join the previously announced 4.5L and 6.8L Tier 3 models, offering customers a full range of choices for commercial and recreational applications.

The PowerTech 6090AFM85 and PowerTech 6135SFM85 propulsion and generator-drive engines are the latest additions to the John Deere Tier 3 lineup. Tier 3 regulations impacting these 9.0L and 13.5L engines take effect in 2014.

The engine most suited to commercial fishing vessels is the 9.0L PowerTech 6135AFM85 generator-drive engine.

The PowerTech 6135AFM85 is the largest John Deere air-to-coolant aftercooled engine. The engine is available in four different propulsion ratings from 272 to 429kW (365 to 575hp); gen-set ratings include 334kW (448hp) at 1800rpm for 60Hz and 278kW (373hp) at 1500rpm for 50Hz.

“This PowerTech 6135AFM85 engine is ideal for high-horsepower applications such as patrol craft, launches, workboats, fishing boats, trawler yachts and sportfishing boats,” said Carl Micu, manager of North American engine sales for JDPS.

The PowerTech 6135AFM85 engine is available with keel-cooled or integrated heat exchanger options.
