The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have both recently been confirmed to speak at Offshore Mariculture 2017.

Founded in 1943, The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations is a key institution that aims towards achieving food security for all. A key goal for the organisation is the sustainable management and use of natural resources.

The FAO works with countries to develop and apply key principles across food and agricultural production systems, helping to not only sustain and conserve but also enable to become more productive.

Mr Árni Mathiesen, Assistant Director-General, Fisheries and Aquaculture Department of the FAO will be taking part in the Keynote address on day one of the conference via video link.

The Offshore Mariculture Conference will also welcome Mr Michael Rubino, Director, Office of Aquaculture, NOAA Fisheries.

NOAA Fisheries is a vital organisation responsible for the monitoring and stewardship of the nation's ocean resources and their habitat. Through their important work they ensure that fisheries remain productive and sustainable, that safe sources of seafood are created, and the recovery and conservation of protected resources is enabled.

Mr Rubino will be speaking during session one of the Offshore Mariculture Conference, his presentation will cover ‘Offshore ventures and developments in US waters in the Gulf of Mexico, off California, the mid-Atlantic, and Western Pacific’
