EW Group GmbH subsidary GenoMar Genetics AS has acquired the genetics and distribution assets of Brazilian tilapia breeding and distribution company AquaAmerica / AquaPorto.
As part of the agreement, AquaAmerica breeding and genetics will join a portfolio of tilapia brands including GenoMar Supreme and Aquabel ,managed by GenoMar´s research and development team. AquaAmerica distribution will become an independent company with separate distribution and commercial activities.

Mr Tola Alvarez that a new breeding center is currently under construction and will be the new home for the AquaAmerica breeding programme. The centre will focus on implementation of modern breeding technologies and long-term resource allocation. There will also be investment in existing distribution infrastructure, he confirmed.
AquaPorto began operations in 2007 and separate breeding programme AquaAmerica was launched in 2012.
