Nor-Fishing has long ago consolidated its position as a main trade show for the international fishery industry. The 2002 event presented products and services from more than 900 suppliers worldwide, and 25,000 professionals representing 52 nations visited the exhibition. Up to date 240 Norwegian exhibitors and 40 international exhibitions have signed up for the event. Organisers also point out that Nor-Fishing 2004 has attracted considerable interest from the shipbuilding industry in Eastern Europe, with Lithuania and Poland, already booked in.
“This is a very positive trend, indeed, considering the fact that many registrations are based on options and DM to companies participating in the last event.
“A large-scale marketing initiative will be launched in a few days, and experience has demonstrated that international exhibitors usually register a little later. However, they should not wait too long to be sure to get a place,” says Mr Odd Berg, director of the foundation.
He also adds that the number of hotel reservations indicate a widespread interest in the show.
Therefore, he is very happy to see that central Trondheim now has two new and large hotels, a most welcome boost in the local accommodation capacity, he said.
Maritime exhibition area
The Nor-Fishing event has a separate maritime exhibition area, Skansen, situated only a five-minute walk from the main halls. All kinds of modern fishing vessels will be on show as well as two Norwegian Coastguard vessels and the new sophisticated research vessel.
