Macduff updates its designs

The latest vessel from Macduff Shipyards, the Fruitful Bough PD109, is an updated version of their successful 19.9m model which has seen Amethyst BF19, Celestial Dawn BF109 and Flourish N BF340 launched.

The update is that the model has now been translated into a kit system for cutting in the yard’s profiling division. Macduff Ship Design Limited were subcontractors for the computer design work, production of the kit drawings and stability data.

The Fruitful Bough was built for James West in partnership with sons James Jr. and Robert.

It will operate through Lynne May Fishing Co of Peterhead. It replaces a 22.65m wooden seiner trawler built at Macduff in 1986.

The design is conventional and hull construction is by Richard’s Dry Dock and Engineering Limited in Great Yarmouth.

It was towed to Macduff by Targe Towing Limited for fitting out.

It has a reconditioned hydraulic bow thruster, powered from the deck machinery hydraulic system.
