With only three days to the start of the 2026 IceFish Conferences, it’s time to take a moment and highlight a trio of items that will make next week in Iceland something to remember.
First up – and for the first time ever at IceFish since it began in 1984 – there is a brand new and exciting one-day conference to inform and inspire. The Aquaculture – Driving Sustainable Growth Conference will launch the Reykjavik gathering on Tuesday.
After a warm Chairman’s welcome from Ólöf Helga Jónsdóttir, CPO of Icelandic fish farming company Kaldvik, the conference will get underway with a Keynote session Blue Food Futures: Policy, Partnership & Global Growth.
Leading this debut event will be Egill Þorri Steingrimsson, Director for Coordination at the MAST-Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority, who will argue that effective policy and strong official oversight are the essential foundations for sustainable growth; from the Iceland Ocean Cluster, data analyst Clara Jegousse will outline what the numbers say about global aquaculture; and Kevin Edwards, VP Global Market Development at GDST, will detail how seafood traceability standards are building collaborative, efficient and sustainable supply chains.
Going into the second day and the pace does not slacken at all, with the100% Fish for Profit Conference arriving with its own Keynote moment – Global Partnerships For A Global Seafood Challenge.
Alongside moderator Dr. Þór Sigfússon, the Founder & Deputy Chair of the Iceland Ocean Cluster, Dr. Alexandra Leeper, CEO of Iceland Ocean Cluster and Donna Fordyce, Director of the Scottish Ocean Cluster will take part in a focussed fireside chat exploring how global partnerships and collaboration are accelerating innovation and scaling solutions.
Rounding off the trio, a real highlight of IceFish 2026 is that both the inspiring conferences are taking place in the same location as the 15th Icelandic Fisheries, Seafood & Aqua Exhibition – at the Fífan Hall in Kópavogur.
