Roffs’ customers who already receive colour emails from Roffs’ regular fish forecasting service, will get the movies free for the first year. But Daniel C. Westhaver, international division director says they would be happy for any skippers to test out the scheme by going to their website www.roffs.com for sample downloads.
In return they hope skippers will provide “feedback and constructive criticism in order to improve this new experimental product”.
Roffer, whose aim is to help skippers find fish, says the movies will generally contain 36-48 hours of satellite imagery allowing skippers to see the water motion for a bigger area than just the area they would normally receive in a regular Roffs’ analysis.
File size will be 1-3MB, so skippers on Hotmail or similar will need to make sure their mail boxes are empty before downloading. Roffs are trying to reduce file sizes because of time costs on people’s satphones being run up.
The movies will run in QuickTime. Users with Windows XP/Office XP software who experience a download problem can contact Roffs by email or phone, (the same as for feedback), at +1 800 677-7633 and fish@roffs.com
Their website (www.roffs.com) will have a list of all the available movies. You choose your the email address for the movie of the area you want to see and it will automatically come back to you.
For example: for Georgetown to Cape Fear and Georgetown Hole, you would send an email to: gtwncfmpeg@roffs.com
Roffs say cloud cover during the fishing season means some of the day-to-day movies may not be as good as the boat-show quality sample ones, but wish everyone a safe trip and good fishing!
