The 170701 series of vessels incorporate an innovative inverted bow in their design, expected to provide good seakeeping capabilities and fuel efficiency.
Kapitan Sokolov is the first of ten vessels to be built at the yard for Norebo, as well as which the Northern Shipyard is also building four longliner/processor vessels; three for Virma and one for Globus.
The Nautic Rus-designed series of trawlers are designed to have accommodation for up to 80 crew, are powered by 6200Kw main engines and are expected to have production capacity on board for around 150 tonnes, including a 100 tonne/day freezing capacity, plus production of fishmeal, fish oil and canned products.
The Norebo trawlers take their names from industry figures, and Kapitan Sokolov is named after fishing industry veteran Vladimir Vitalievich Sokolov (1954-2015).
Kapitan Geller, Kapitan Ostashkov, Kapitan Breyhman and Kapitan Tuzov are under construction and the keel-laying ceremony for Kapitan Abakumov took place in July.
