The BSGNs were replacement to the illegally sized nets they voluntarily surrendered to the city government.
The fishing gear was turned over in March.
Each fisherman received 300 metres of gill net together with floats, sinker, netting twine and mono nylon #160.
The gear swapping activity is one of the strategies of BFAR-10 to curb illegal fishing in the region. Those fishermen who are using illegal fishing gears are encouraged to stop their illegal activity and to surrender their gears to their local government to be replaced with new and legal fishing gears by BFAR-10.
