The new jumbo Geneglace ice maker was presented in the February issue of World Fishing (ice & refrigeration feature), shortly after its launch.
With a production capacity of 50 tonnes per day this is the largest flake ice machine avilable on the market. To extend their ice plant facility the South-American shrimp producer, seduced by the technical features of the new Geneglace ice maker, opted for three of these units.
Propesca was already well acquainted with the original Geneglace technology as it had already invested in F900 ice makers a few years before.
The past experience brought a lot of trust in the technical design. It involves a helical reamer which harvests the ice formed on the surface of a stationary cylinder. This original design explains the low maintenance and the exceptional reliability of the machines.
The quantity of ice needed to refrigerate the shrimp in a a tropical country like Venezuela is such that Propesca needed a significant plant extension. The ratio of ice to shrimp nears 1/1.
By using the F2000 larger surface heat-exchanger the company is expecting to significantly improve the energy efficiency of the amonia refrigeration system.
The three units are currently in production and will be installed and commissioned in Maracaibo before the end of the year by the Maracaibo based refrigeration company INPROINCA.
