Michael has been advancing open ocean farming technologies for over 22 years in the US and Abroad. Projects have included mariculture from oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico, submerged cage culture in Hawaii, and open ocean aquaculture of finfish, shellfish and seaweeds species in the North Atlantic.
Current duties and responsibilities:
- Aquaculture Specialist
- Manage three offshore farms culturing steelhead trout, blue mussels and sugar kelp
- Conduct aquaculture research, education and training
- Provide outreach and assistance to fishermen and farmers that want to engage in ocean farming
