Celiktrans Shipyard in Instanbul, Turkey has delivered a new wetfish trawler to HB Grandi in Iceland.

Viðey is the last of a trio of wetfish trawlers that have been built for HB Grandi by Celiktrans Shipyard, which also built HB Grandi’s pelagic vessels Venus and Víkingur.
As well as the yard’s directors, Viðey’s departure from the shipyard was attended by HB Grandi CEO Vilhjálmur Vilhjálmsson, director of groundfish operations Torfi Thorsteinsson, director of pelagic operations Garðar Svavarsson, financial director Jónas Guðbjörnsson and Alfreð Tuliníus, managing director of Nautic ehf, who designed the series of the wetfish trawlers.
Viðey is now in the hands of skipper Jóhannes Ellert Eiríksson, and with him are chief mate Pétur Pétursson, second mate Guðlaugur L. Sveinsson, ship’s cook Sigurður Jónsson, chief engineer Ægir Karl Kristmannsson, first engineer Örn Eysteinsson and second engineer Rafnkell Kristján Guttormsson.
Communications are being handled by Sveinn Kristján Sveinsson.
A formal reception for Viðey will be held in Reykjavík on 22 December.
