An international one-day seminar on North Sea Inshore Fisheries is to take place in the Glasgow Grosvenor Hilton Hotel on Wednesday, May 23.

The event, which will be chaired by the Countess of Glasgow, will bring together delegates involved in inshore fisheries from around the North Sea and elsewhere.

Speakers from Sweden, Norway, the UK and The Netherlands will share their experiences in managing inshore fisheries.

The seminar will focus on the North Sea and, among other things, will consider the development of an informal Inshore Fisheries Network, which could link together all those involved in North Sea Inshore Fisheries.

As part of this process delegates will debate a range of inshore fisheries issues, including:

• Inshore fisheries and other users of the North Sea

• Inshore fisheries and co-management

• The impact of the Habitats Directive on Dutch Inshore Fisheries Management

• Inshore Fisheries Groups in Scotland: the way forward

• Pros and cons of establishing an Inshore Fisheries Network
