Spanish based company Nature Pack has launched the first plastic container on the market aimed at users selling one and two kilograms of frozen seafood.
This new range of products is part of the T-Fish line, thin gaugegage packaging of less than 1mm. The mechanical performance of the product is guaranteed by the 'absolute impermeability' of the packaging, without any additional treatment.
Manuel J. Calahorro, sales manager, said "This is the only plastic container with these small dimensions on the market. Other ones are made with cork or carton. It took us a few years to develop this thin container with very low thickness to give flexibility to the box."
The containers are for all types of shellfish and trays for smoked fish and all types of seafood and shellfish.
Nature Pack also produces reusable stackable boxes for use at the fish market or to carry on board ship.
All containers have a 'unique' structure and composition of polyolefin, vegetable fibres and mineral load. Nature Pack is the first company to combine the plasticity of polypropylene with the elasticity of vegetable fibres, as well as the durability of the mineral load and the triple layering of materials.
The advantages of these containers are:
* Completely impermeable.
* Optimal thermal behaviour with a minimum absorption of heat/cold and a high-energy efficiency upon handling and transporting in refrigeration units.
* One 100% recyclable.
* Withstand extremely heavy loads, and good resistance to crushing.
* Outstanding sanitation reduces growth of microorganisms.
Nature Pack follows a policy of concern for environment and investment in R+D.
It won the 1999 LIFE Award from the European Commission in recognition for its respect for the environment.
