Dybvad Stål Industri is installing three of its horizontal DSI HS 34/12 freezers on Greenland trawler Tuugaalik.

Tuugaalik is owned by the Qaleralik fishing company, and will soon have three of the DSI freezers to freeze its halibut catch.

Sales director Peter Christensen says that continuous freezing will be quicker by using these machines, along with securing the highest quality and increasing capacity. A key feature of the freezers is automatic loading and unloading, which saves man-hours and improves working conditions onboard.

Mr Christensen has high expectations regarding future offshore use of the DSI horizontal freezer: “We are highly competitive in the world market for this type of freezer. The quality is second to none and the freezer is equipped with automation from Erlinord.”

The company also reports a busy start to the year, with the first quarter producing the same amount of orders that are normally secured in six months. This growth has resulted in the employment of 20 more skilled staff to fulfil orders.

DSI has also ordered two Motoman welding robots to help with production of the machines – these are expected to be installed by the end of April.

  • Havbryn – 8 units standard V332/100 B vertical plate freezers
  • Havstrand - 8 units vertical plate freezer Type V16 32/100 B
  • Volstad - 10 standard V3 32/100 B vertical plate freezers
