Marine Harvest has announced that its first two farms have been ASC-certified - Tarmvikodden and Buksevika in Vest-Agder County, Norway.

“Marine Harvest is committed to have all our farms ASC-certified within 2020. This is an important first step, but we still have a lot of work ahead of us. As a partner of Global Salmon Initiative, we have a clear goal of producing more seafood for a growing world population while minimising our environmental footprint.” said CEO Alf-Helge Aarskog.

“We see a much greater role for seafood in the global food production in the future, we constantly strive to improve. It is very motivating that 70% of the global salmon industry is committed to ASC-certify all salmon production.”

DNV GL was responsible for the certification process and has described Marine Harvest as one of the frontrunners for sustainable seafood and also said that it is comforting to see that the industry has embraced the ASC Salmon standard.
