Cosalt Safety & Protection, UK supplier of marine safety, rope, rigging, lifting and fire fighting equipment, has teamed up with ship’s chandlery business JSB Supplies to provide Scotland’s North East fishing fleet with a wide range of products and services.

Together the two companies have set up a new operation at 92, Charlotte Street in Fraserburgh. The 390 square metre depot will hold extensive stocks of life saving appliances, fire fighting equipment, specialist and standard ropes, hardware and connectors, workwear, hire equipment and ship’s consumables.

The business will be run by Carol MacDonald, who has been recognised for campaign to defend the fishing industry and communities against further decline.

Said Cosalt Area Manager Alastair Carnie: “Both companies have a strong regional presence in North East Scotland - Cosalt in marine safety, fire fighting equipment and rope and JSB in general ship’s chandlery. By working together from the same site, we can provide fishing vessels with a vast range of products and services at competitive prices. Our customers can now benefit from the joint expertise of both Cosalt and JSB.

“The depot will service an area stretching from Aberdeen to Buckie. Carol’s role will be to handle day-to-day business and sales enquiries. She will also be carrying out safety equipment surveys on fishing vessels and advising on LSA requirements for Guard ship duties.”
