Cultivos Yadran, a Chilean aquaculture company specialised in the cultivation and trading of Atlantic salmon, can now use the Friend of the Sea logo on its products in combination with the GLOBALG.A.P. Number.
Yadran was found compliant with the four criteria defined in the Friend of the Sea Add-On after a successful GLOBALG.A.P. Aquaculture Version 4 assessment. These criteria cover the impact on water body sediment, the effect on the local community regarding access to drinking water and fishing areas, and social criteria requirements covered by GRASP – the GLOBALG.A.P. Risk Assessment on Social Practice.
“Cultivos Yadran has set high standards for biosafety and sustainability in our industry,” said Mario Bueno of Yadran. “We encourage our suppliers to base their strategies on long-term environmental protection.”
Dedicated to salmon and trout production since 1986, Cultivos Yadran exports to Asia, Europe, USA and Latin America. The company’s processing plant, which opened in 2005, is currently one of the most modern facilities in Latin America, producing up to 80,000 tons per year.
The salmon producer has implemented an integrated traceability system that tracks the history of each fish during the entire process, from the arrival of raw materials through to the final product distribution.
