Thrane & Thrane have announced that the company''s mini-C solution for Ship Security Alert System (SSAS), the Capsat® Ship Security Alert (TT-3000SSA), as the first Inmarsat-C based solution, has been approved by Lloyd''s Register EMEA as well as Inmarsat. Consequently, Thrane & Thrane''s mini-C solution satisfies the new requirements from the International Maritime Organization (IMO) regarding Ship Security Alert System.
The approvals from Lloyd's Register EMEA and Inmarsat follow a very successful launch of Thrane & Thrane's mini-C solution at the Europort maritime exhibition in Holland in November 2003. It is for the Thrane & Thrane's first approval of the Capsat® Ship Security Alert from the relevant classification societies.
The mini-C solution offered by Thrane & Thrane comes with two alarm buttons, which can be activated in case of a terrorist or piracy attack. It presents the owners with the following benefits:
* It is based on the existing Inmarsat-C service, which is recognized for its unique role in maritime safety. In full compliance with Inmarsat CN137 Security Alert requirements which stipulates use of the well established GMDSS Inmarsat-C infrastructure.
* Only one time cost. No additional start up fee/subscription fees.
* Routing of Ship Security Alert according to Flag Administration procedures.
* Flexibility in routing to e-mail addresses, anti-piracy centres, GSM phones etc, where endorsed by Flag Administration.
Full support by Thrane & Thrane global distributor and partner network with more than 10 years experience in the delivery, installation and support of Inmarsat C systems.
This includes support from the company's network of selected Certified Service Centres. The two alert buttons allow direct transmission of covert/security alert calls, including updated position data, the ship's identity, and current position associated with a date and time. Operation of the SSAS alert buttons does not trigger any alarm or indication signal on the ship.
Thrane & Thrane has already received a significant number of orders on the new Capsat® Ship Security Alert solution and first customer shipment was expected last month. At the beginning of 2004, Thrane & Thrane expects to introduce a second Inmarsat-C based Ship Security Alert solution. The Capsat® Ship Security Add-on solution will use the existing Inmarsat TT-3020C transceiver onboard a ship and add SSAS alert panels to the installation.
